Canine Physiotherapy

:

How can Veterinary Physiotherapy help my dog?

Naomi will take a detailed history from the owner and then, working with the owner, will assess each dog individually. Physiotherapy can help your dog with:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Orthopaedic conditions, such as hip and elbow dysplasia
  • Rehabilitation following orthopaedic surgery
  • Neurological conditions, such as degenerative myelopathy, intervertebral disc disease and lumbosacral disease
  • Rehabilitation following injury
  • Optimising performance and wellbeing
  • Obesity and weight management

What does treatment involve?

A treatment plan will be formulated based on the assessment findings.  Treatment modalities may include:

  • Massage
  • Soft tissue mobilisations including myofascial release & stretching
  • Manual therapy
  • Exercise prescription
  • Advice to owners
  • Electrotherapy treatment, including neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES)
  • Collaborative working with the vet

Where is assessment and treatment completed?

Naomi is a mobile veterinary Physiotherapist, so she will visit your dog at home, allowing them to be assessed and treated in the comfort of their own home.

How do I refer my dog for canine physiotherapy?

All dogs receiving physiotherapy treatment must be registered with a Veterinary practice, in accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act (1966). Naomi will contact your vet prior to assessment, to gain consent.
